We plan the layout first around how your family actually cooks and stores things, then choose materials to suit that plan.
What we plan
Layout — straight, L-shape, U-shape or parallel, chosen for the room rather than the trend.
Carcass and shutters — specified in writing before work starts.
Hardware — hinges, channels and lift-ups quoted by brand.
Storage — tall units, corner solutions, drawers sized for what goes in them.
Choosing a layout
The room usually decides this, not preference.
Straight-line suits narrow utility rooms and compact flats. Everything sits on one wall, so the sink belongs between the hob and the fridge rather than at one end.
L-shape works in most Lucknow flats. It uses two adjacent walls, keeps the work triangle tight, and leaves one corner that needs a proper pull-out rather than a dead shelf.
Parallel needs at least 1.2 metres of clear floor between the two runs. Below that, two people cannot pass each other and drawers collide with the cabinet opposite.
U-shape gives you the most counter and storage, but only if the room is wide enough that the base of the U does not turn into a corridor.
We measure before recommending any of them, including the door swing, the window position, and where the plumbing and gas point already sit. Moving those adds cost, and it is better to know that at the drawing stage than halfway through the work.
What a kitchen in Lucknow has to put up with
Lucknow summers push past 44°C and the monsoon brings months of high humidity. That combination is hard on a badly built kitchen.
Humidity — moisture gets into board through unsealed edges and cut-outs, not through the face. Edge banding and properly sealed cut-outs around the sink and hob matter more than the grade stamped on the board.
Hard water — the city supply leaves scale on taps, sinks and any surface it dries on. It changes which sink finish and which counter material are worth paying for.
Dust — flats facing main roads collect fine dust all year. Open shelving and high-gloss shutters both show it, and we will say so before you choose them.
Heat and venting — a hob on a west-facing outside wall needs a plan for where the chimney duct actually exits, agreed before the false ceiling closes.
How we quote
Materials and hardware are specified in writing before work starts, with the brand named for each item, so you can hold the quote against anyone else’s. Carcass board, shutter finish, edge banding, hinges, drawer channels and lift-ups are listed as separate lines rather than rolled into a single per-square-foot figure.
