Bedroom interior design in Lucknow
A bedroom that works at 6am.
Bedrooms are usually the most compromised rooms in a home — the wardrobe eats the walking space and the switch is on the wrong side of the bed.
We plan the room around the daily routine first, then the look.
What we plan
Bed and wardrobe placement — worked out against door swings and windows first.
Storage — wardrobe, loft and under-bed planned as one.
Lighting — separate switching so you are not crossing the room in the dark.
Clearances that decide the layout
A bedroom is mostly decided by three measurements, and they are easy to get wrong on paper.
Around the bed — you want at least 60cm of walking space on one side, and 75cm if two people get in and out from opposite sides.
In front of the wardrobe — a swing shutter needs roughly 60cm clear to open fully. If the bed eats that, sliding doors are the honest answer rather than a squeeze.
Against the headboard wall — we avoid putting the head of the bed on a shared bathroom wall where we can, because you hear the plumbing at night.
Door swing and window position get marked before anything else is placed. Most bad bedroom layouts come from planning the furniture first and discovering the door later.
Heat, dust and damp in a Lucknow bedroom
Between April and June afternoon temperatures run past 44°C, and a west-facing bedroom takes the worst of it.
The air conditioner — the indoor unit should not blow directly onto the bed, and the copper piping route and drain slope need deciding before the false ceiling closes. Retrofitting either means opening the ceiling again.
Curtains — a blackout layer behind a lighter one makes a real difference on a west wall. The track has to be planned before the ceiling, not screwed on afterwards.
Monsoon damp — a wardrobe fixed flat against an external wall can collect moisture on its back panel through the rainy months. We leave an air gap behind it.
Dust — flats on main roads collect a fine layer everywhere. It affects whether open shelving beside the bed is a good idea for you.
Lighting and switching
One bright light in the middle of the ceiling is the most common bedroom mistake.
We plan three things separately: soft ambient light for the room, a task light at each side of the bed for reading, and light inside the wardrobe so you can see what is in it.
Switching matters as much as the fittings. Two-way switching, at the door and again at the bedside, means you are not crossing a dark room to turn the light off. Warm light in the 2700K to 3000K range suits a bedroom; anything cooler reads as an office.
Often planned at the same time
Wardrobe and storage design in Lucknow — The wardrobe is the single biggest decision in the room, and it sets the walking space around the bed.
False ceiling and lighting design in Lucknow — Bedside switching, cove lighting and the air conditioner drain all get fixed at ceiling stage.
Kids room design in Lucknow — If you are doing one bedroom you are usually doing the others in the same run of work.
